Sustainability in research

We research sustainable solutions for the challenge of the next generations. Our tradition of trans- and interdisciplinary research is a key success factor in this. In addition, we want to make our research activities as sustainable as possible while using the resources at our disposal responsibly.

We distinguish between two fields of action:

• Sustainability research, i.e. research on topics related to sustainability, and

• Sustainability in the context of research, i.e. concerning the responsible use of resources in the context of research activities.

There is a great deal of research on ecological, social and economic sustainability at the University of Bayreuth. Due to the large number, it is not possible to list all the research projects in detail. Current research examples from various departments can be found under "A look at the research".
