A look at the research

The University of Bayreuth participates in the nationwide network "HochN - Sustainability at Universities" for further networking with researchers at other locations.

As an example, three projects approved in 2022 are listed here for the different sustainability areas, as well as other examples from the campus:

  • ERC PoC Grant "CoolChips" under the direction of Prof. Dr. Markus Retsch (Chair of Physical Chemistry I)

  • Research project on climate reporting by small and medium-sized enterprises led by BF/M (Prof. Dr. Torsten M. Kühlmann), Chair of Finance and Banking at the University of Bayreuth (Prof. Dr. Klaus Schäfer) and bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Rommel)

  • Research project "MYCO-SoilC - Mycorrhizal Types and Soil Carbon Storage: A mechanistic theory of fungal mediated soil organic matter cycling in temperate forests" headed by Prof. Dr. Johanna Pausch (Junior Professor, Agroecology)

  • UBT Safe & Sustainable Lab (S2L) - Green Lab Initiative of the UBT led by Prof. Dr. Stephan Schwarzinger (Northern Bavarian NMR Centre - Working Group on Quality and Authenticity of Food and Materials)
